Nearly half of Deerfield's housing stock was built between 1940 and 1969, giving the village a median year-built of 1969. These homes arrived with closed-off galley kitchens, compartmentalized floor plans, original 60-to-100-amp Federal Pacific or Zinsco panels, galvanized or early copper plumbing, and primary baths that were designed for function rather than comfort.
